The Medial Collateral Ligament of the knee is a thick band of connective tissue located on the inner side of the knee, and functions as a primary stabilizer when valgus force is applied.1 The Medial Collateral ligament, also referred to as MCL, originates at the medial epicondyle of the femur and inserts at the medial condyle of the tibia, and are often torn upon abrupt stopping, twisting or force on the medial side of the knee. When the Medial Collateral Ligament becomes completely torn, soft tissue fixation utilizing an allograft or autograft can be used to reconstruct the ligament during an open procedure. 2
