Description of Duties/Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY: Provides support to the Marketing Communications department through programming, design, database administration, configuration and maintenance of the website for company’s internal and external communications. Insures the website is available to the desired audience with appropriate links and security. Programs and designs web page layout, graphics, color schemes and infrastructure to maintain a cohesive website based on the organization’s communications strategies and goals. Researches and evaluates new related technologies RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB OVERVIEW: Designs, creates and maintains the company web site(s), any other web site(s) assigned and related web-based applications and communications. This includes web-based or multimedia-based layouts, graphics, animation, video, sound and/or content for use in presentations, video productions, multimedia programs, Web sites, CD’s, DVD’s, email blasts and other electronic media. Creates, plans, designs, tests, edits, and maintains efficient and logical databases. Understands complex database concepts as well as the implication of different database designs. Effectively employs many different database design techniques and possesses demonstrated work experience with relational database management systems. Design, develop and maintain database solutions using MYSQL Server or any server that is currently being utilized. Documents the look and flow of websites and corrects the system deficiencies and implements effective solutions. Develops layout design and concept, selects and secure appropriate illustrative materials to be used, proofreads copy and ensures consistency, accuracy and compliance with required standards. Updates and expands information on website and meets with the appropriate personnel on a regular basis to evaluate and modify the web site as appropriate. Aids in the selection of domain names and manages and registers all the domain names for the company. Design and develop web sites using HTML, Flash, PHP or any other program to develop searchable/interactive web pages as assigned. Assists in oversees all technical aspects of the company’s website. Recommends upgrades. Investigates system errors, performs backups and ensures user accessibility and site performance. Provides technical maintenance for the department’s computers if necessary. Creates interactive CD’s and DVD using Flash or any other authoring program that is required. Performs technical duties in the web presentation/distribution of videos, CD’s, DVD’s, video streaming/webinars, and any other media that is required. Develops video and audio enhancements if required. When needed must be able to assist in video shoots, set up A/V equipment as required for training meetings, sales meetings, trade shows or any company function. Takes photos/video at organizational events for Web, print publications and/or any other media applications. Edits and manipulates photos. Maintains server for digital photograph archives. Using Adobe Creative Suites (CS4), designs and implements the elements necessary for the website and micro sites. Maintains project files assuring that proper signatures and procedures are followed and updates the project logos. Read manuals, periodicals and technical reports to learn ways to develop programs that will meet the company’s requirements. Works with a wide variety of people and maintains a positive working relationship with both inside and outside personnel for both ConMed Linvatec and the other divisions within ConMed. Performs other duties and special projects as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES: Bachelor Degree in computer science, MIS, or equivalent work experience. Work experience of at least four years of web development, web design, graphic design and production. Minimum of four years experience with Macintosh based Desktop Publishing Equipment. Solid command of authoring tools and graphics suites including Flash (AS3), HTML, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, PhotoShop, Illustrator, DreamWeaver, Mobile Device Development, MS Office, Search Engine Optimization, web site activity reports, Urchin, website indexing, OSX Server Administration, backup management and server optimization. Excellent design skills and creativity in graphics, design layouts and production to develop and produce promotional and educational materials from concept through completion. Must be able to organize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Must be flexible, able to handle pressure, and work in a deadline-oriented environment. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical Abilities: o Be reliably and predictably available to perform the major duties of the position at the assigned work-site. o Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. o Ability to spend a substantial amount of time working with a computer at a standard office work station. o Ability to stand, walk, stoop and bend periodically. o Ability to perform routine, repetitive-motioned activities. Occasional travel required supporting trade shows, sales events, meetings, etc.; Some local travel may also be required.
